“Things from summer, is a series of photographs presenting captured memories from the best bits taken away from previous summers. Relating personally to me, these images convey small golden nuggets that have been saved for cloudier days. This body of work was purely created through the want to preserve and remember the colourful happy moments that inspired so much for me. To put it simply, this work is very much about happiness and having fun. All these moments captured are ones that I have wanted to savour and remember. Being able to gather and choose from a larger series work that hangs closely together, allows for the work to be an ongoing archive.A continuation of fragments that keeps on growing and adapting. It is a way of working which I have become more and more drawn to. Instead of making a ‘final piece’, leaving it to be bought sold, or simply collect dust and become waste, I like to think that these pieces have their own lives that can continue to evolve and be shown in different ways. On another level after seeing the works together, I started to notice different aspects to the work that definitely hadn’t crossed my mind when taking these images. This included my deep interest in the links between the natural and the artificial and the subtle imprint of my cultural heritage in the works, often presenting themselves through food and colour. Feeling free and playful with work is often hard to accomplish, especially when one gets wrapped up in the concept and meaning of something. This work reflects simply being able to create and enjoy the process of it all.”
